Big River

Big River Nursing and Rehab is committed to providing our residents with a superior quality of skilled care. We offer a multitude of both short-term and long-term care solutions to meet you or your loved one’s needs. Our modern facility has many in-house skilled care options with more advanced options to be added by the end of 2016.

Long-Term Nursing Care

If your loved one is no longer able to perform activities of daily living (ADLs) independently, the long-term nursing care at Big River may be your best solution. Even if they can still do some or all of their ADLs independently, you may be concerned about their decline in health, decline in memory, increased fall risk, and decreased socialization.

We have designed Big River to be a comfortable home away from home that offers the safety, security, and skilled care required for a superior quality of life—and peace of mind for family and friends.

Family and friends are welcome to stop by and visit any time you like!

Therapy And Rehab

Therapy and rehabilitation is often required after accident, injury, and surgery. We offer our residents a complete range of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and respiratory therapy.

Our in-house therapists are available 7 days a week to ensure each resident’s personalized care plan is top priority. Therapy and rehab is available as needed to both our short-term and long-term residents.

Wound Care

We develop a personalized care plan for each of our residents. This includes preventative measures and specialized treatment for injury or surgery related wounds.

We take a holistic approach to wound care, which requires input from multiple members of our skilled team. We collaborate with each resident’s Primary Care Physician to ensure that follow-up care is coordinated after discharge.

Our interdisciplinary team, Wound Physician, Licensed Dietician, Social Worker, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, and Nursing staff consistently review the individualized plan of care.

Our signature holistic approach has reduced average recovery time and stay by 2 to 8 weeks.

Memory Care

Our entire staff, even our housekeeping team, is certified through the Alzheimer’s Association. On top of that, we also have a designated memory care team.

Our team of memory care specialists is committed to providing residents with all levels of cognitive decline with the highest quality of care. We offer two fully secured units, so residents with dementia and Alzheimer’s have the freedom to participate in daily activities without worry of roaming outside of their secured areas.

We focus on education and therapeutic programming designed to create a “habilitation” model of memory care. We have found great success with this approach, and that it helps to maintain and prolong current cognitive skills and abilities.

We provide a secondary daily activity schedule within our secured memory care units. This ensures the activities are engaging and fun for residents with cognitive decline.

Along with our skilled memory care, we prioritize offering a warm, comfortable, and safe environment—an environment that feels like home.

We are also active with our local Alzheimer’s Association, and you will find us at many of
their local events—including their annual fundraising walk.

Hospice Care

Through partnerships with local hospice care providers, our hospice services are designed to provide patients with the combined medical, psychological, and spiritual support they require during their final days. We work closely with each resident’s primary care physician to ensure pain management and overall comfort are of highest priority.

Family and friends can visit any time, and rest assured their loved one is receiving the comfort care they require at this delicate time.

Respite Care

We understand your need for care is not always long-term. Whether your private caregiver is out of town, the family caregiver is going on a vacation, or you simply need a break from your loved one’s increased need for hands-on care—we offer respite care as a safe solution for your short-term needs.

Although the stay is short, we will create a personalized care plan for each resident, allowing you the peace of mind you require so that you can enjoy your much needed time off.

Take the time off you need, without worry of safety, security, or activities of daily living falling by the wayside.

Cardiac Care And Rehabilitation

Cardiac conditions are some of the most common health concerns for both our short-term and long-term residents. It is for this reason that Big River has partnered with My Total Life Care to provide specialized cardiac care. With their innovative remote technology, we are able to monitor cardiac concerns in real-time, as well as provide our residents hand-on care from cardiac specialists.

On top of the services provided by My Total Life Care, we are 1 of 3 nursing homes in the state, trained by Barnes Jewish Hospital to accept LVAD patients.

Please keep in mind the remote cardiac services provided by My Total Life Care are not designed to replace hands-on care, but to provide our residents with a superior quality of cardiac care.
